SAP AUDITS EXPOSE UNPREDICTABILITY IN THEIR LICENSE METRICS

16. 07. 2018

Will software licensing continue to be a bloody battleground for vendors and users?

In 2017, the English High Court of Justice ruled against Diageo in an indirect licensing case brought by SAP regarding the usage of mySAP enterprise resource planning software on a Salesforce platform.

The case of SAP (UK) Limited v Diageo Great Britain Limited [2017] EWHC 189 (TCC) was an evident victory for SAP.  But the adverse publicity has made customers far more wary.  Might this case mark the high-water mark for damaging claims by software vendors against their customers?

Robin Fry of Cerno comments on this case in Computer Weekly White Paper.
